Chevron Parkland, Burswood
Chevron Parkland is newly built and considered one of the best playgrounds in Perth. Located between Optus Stadium and the Swan River, its 2.6 hectares of rehabilitated land includes six different nature-based play areas.
Each play area is designed to promote unstructured exploration and play, featuring slides and statues to musical instruments and water play. Some of the play areas are best for smaller children, while others are fun for all ages.
Toilets and amenities are located a short walk from the play areas, with plenty of open space for bikes and scooters. Chevron Parkland is a great family destination with picnic areas, BBQ’s and other attractions.
Shepherds Bush Park, Kingsley
Shepherds Bush Park is the best location for kids who love to ride their bike, scooter or skateboard. This park includes plenty of playground equipment, but the biggest drawcard is its miniature road track. The track is perfect for smaller kids to travel along and comes complete with traffic signs and painted road markings.
Shepherds Bush Park also has space for adults to relax with a public BBQ and picnic area. While the park includes drink fountains, the closest toilets can be found at shopping centres in the local area. Kids will love exploring this road-themed park or watching older children perform bike, scooter of skateboard tricks.
Hyde Park Water Playground
Hyde Park’s water playground is the best place in Perth to cool down on a hot day. This park features a large water play area with tipping buckets, spray guns and water jets. When out of the water, there’s also plenty of shade provided by large sail cloths and trees
Outside of the water playground, Hyde Park has plenty of natural sightseeing on offer, as well as another large playground nearby.

Synergy Parkland, Kings Park
Synergy Parkland is located within Kings Park and features two connected play areas. Best suited for kids aged six and above, it features giant dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures which can be climbed.
Playgrounds in the park include wooden play structures, slides, swings and boardwalk paths around a central lake. Synergy Parkland is a great family location with plenty of amenities, including toilets and a BBQ area. The parkland also has a large pavilion that can be booked for events, which can make it the perfect place for a birthday. However, it’s important to make sure that your event is booked and follows the park’s regulations.
Oxford Street Reserve
For kids under six, take a trip to Oxford Street Reserve. Located in trendy Leederville, this large playground area is next to the popular Cracked Café, so mum and dad can relax with a coffee while easily keeping an eye on the kids.
This playground features table tennis (bats included but bring your own ball) and foursquare, swings, slides, sand and musical instruments. The playground also has a nature play area and fort for imaginative play and exploration. Visiting the Oxford Street Reserve is easy, as it’s only a short walk from the Leederville train station and has full pram access.
Another focus of the park is music, with easy-to-use xylophones and other instruments placed in locations throughout the area. The original park sculptures have been preserved, providing an interesting look at the history of the area.
Sculpture Park also has plenty of space for picnics, along with a BBQ and toilet facilities. Staying for a day in the hills can be a great adventure.
Braithwaite Park, Mt Hawthorn
Located just north of Perth, Braithwaite Park is designed for kids, by kids. Dreamed up by students from the local primary school, this park is made with kids age 10 to 14 in mind, however the park also includes a smaller playground for younger children.
Braithwaite Park features a large nature play area with rope walks, wooden climbing structures, rocks, trees and a long water play area ending in a small makeshift creek. The park also features a double cable flying fox. Amenities include toilets, BBQ’s and plenty of parking.
Woodbridge Riverside Park
Woodbridge Riverside Park is a great getaway location, located just 10 minutes from the Swan Valley. This park has a pirate theme for its nature play area with reinforced tunnels underneath natural rock structures and a fun water play feature.
Rope bridges accompany swings, slides and other playground equipment with standout features including a harnessed flying fox and a pirate ship which sways with your movements. This park has great accessibility for prams and wheelchairs and also features educational signs with basic sign language.
It’s best to visit Woodbridge Reserve during the cooler parts of the day as it lacks shade, however there are plenty of water fountains and a nearby café to take a break and recharge.
